HSFL Division 3 - Kimpton Rovers 6 - 0 Meppershall FC

They say a week is a long time in politics, in Sunday football it’s a very different story !!  Seven days ago Kimpton Rovers were on the receiving end of a six-goal demolition, this week they were the ones dishing out the same fate, league newcomers Meppershall the victims of a ninety-minute onslaught from Darren Riseley’s men.

Like their first game of the season, Rovers went in front in the third minute, this time courtesy of a stunning Tom Hills finish from just inside the box.  That lead could have been doubled just five minutes later when Louis Tyrer netted only to be adjudged offside.  The home side’s pressure did eventually pay off however, when eight minutes before the break a slick move from back to front saw Lewis McCarthy open his account for the season with a smart finish.

After the restart it was all Kimpton as they netted four more times.  McCarthy struck first showing fabulous composure in a one on one with the visiting keeper, Hills made it a brace for himself with a well taken fourth before the Meyer Office Solutions Player of the Match McCarthy completed his hat-trick with another crisp finish, this time from close range.  Substitute Drew Hunter bagged his first of the season in the dying minutes with a far post bullet header from a Thomas Bundy corner.  The win takes Kimpton equal second in the table with seven points, but fourth on goal difference.
