Focus Switches to League Campaign as Rovers’ Preseason Ends

Kimpton’s pre-season campaign came to a disappointing end at home to former Division One side Hitchin Rovers on Sunday.  Once again team manager Darren Riseley was unable to field his strongest side with several players missing which was far from ideal with the 25/26 season starting in a just weeks’ time.

The visitors netted three times in the first period with Rovers mustering just a solitary reply to level the scores at one a piece.  The goal however was a stunning finish from Rezza Rob from around 35 yards after Cameron Swinburn beat the Hitchin keeper to a ball that was nearer the halfway line than the goal line.

The second half was a much tighter affair with Kimpton adapting to the particular threats of the visitors.  They came close on several occasions to reducing the deficit but each time the strike was straight at the keeper.  As legs tired Hitchin’s multiple substitutes took advantage and stole two more goals in the dying minutes.
