Kimpton Rovers Appoint New Coaching Team for 25/26 Season
Ahead of the 25/26 Hitchin Sunday league Season, Kimpton Rovers are pleased to confirm the appointment of Darren Riseley as Manager and Adam Sayer as Assistant Manager.
The appointments come as part of our wider aim to set high standards and put greater focus on structured training, long term player development, and building a motivated squad
Darren Riseley
Darren brings with him a deep understanding of local football and a long standing commitment to developing players the right way. His journey in coaching began in the early 1990s at West Mill Athletic Reserves in the Hitchin Sunday League. Between 1997 and 2000, he managed for Hitchin Town Youth, including in the club’s U15–U18 floodlit side.
In 2004, Darren earned his UEFA B Licence, a significant milestone that speaks to both his knowledge and his commitment to coaching at a high standard. He has managed teams in the Hitchin Sunday League and the Hertford & District League, always placing strong emphasis on organisation, tactical understanding, and player improvement.
His coaching approach is grounded in structure and purpose with each session delivered with intent and designed to help players grow technically, tactically and mentally. As we look to build a sustainable and ambitious club, Darren’s belief in steady development and getting the details right fits perfectly with our long term vision.
Adam Sayer
Adam joins the coaching team as Assistant Manager after filling in as Interim Manager for the back end of last season. Adam brings with him over two decades of experience in grassroots football. Adam started playing at age 16 and has been a familiar face across both the Stevenage and Hitchin Sunday Leagues, spending 13 years with one team through various name changes including Steve Moles United and Dial Square.
His connection with Darren began back in 2008 when he played under him, an early sign of the mutual respect and understanding the two now bring into their coaching partnership. Adam’s Saturday football experience includes 8 seasons with Baldock Cannon in the Hertford and District League, and since 2016 he’s been a committed part of the Sunday League Kimpton setup.
Adam is known not only for his leadership and presence on the pitch, but also for his dedication to the club and team culture. He understands what the club represents and is fully aligned with our ambition to balance enjoyment with improvement.
Together, Darren and Adam bring a strong balance of coaching expertise, playing experience, and local football knowledge. But more importantly, they share a clear aim: to improve players through structured, purposeful training and a consistent team environment.
