HSFL Division 3 - Kimpton Rovers 4 - 2 All Saints United
After six consecutive defeats Kimpton Rovers finally returned to winning ways, claiming all three points in a six goal thriller at The Recreation Ground.
The home side took a convincing 3 goal advantage into the break, Ali Mouatassem opening the scoring on six minutes with a smart first time shot on the turn following a sublime cross from Charlie Clee. It was to be almost twenty more minutes before Rovers doubled their lead. An Alex Jode header was cleared off the line onto to be turned back into the danger area by Ahmed Many, where Jode made no mistake with a close range flick past the keeper. Four minutes later Louis Tyrer, who has been threatening to get on the scoresheet in recent games did just that with a peach of a header from another Clee cross.
After the restart the visitors made it much more of a contest and created several openings of their own. They got their reward when substitute Joe Catterill mistimed a tackle in the box and the resultant spot kick sent the home keeper the wrong way. Just two minutes later Kimpton restored their three-goal cushion when captain marvel himself Jode, got the deftest of touches with his head from close range following a Clee corner that was headed goalwards by Adam Sayer and flicked on by Mouatassem. The Saints half cleared their lines and the ball found Justin Zwirner who showed great composure to chip in an exquisite ball that found the head of Jode. As the clock ran down the visitors did find the net for a second time as the Rovers defence completely switched off but it was to be no more than consolation and the villagers secured all three points and moved into double figures in the league table.
