HSFL Division 3 - Kimpton Rovers 2 - 3 Lea Sports PSG

Kimpton Rovers fell to a narrow defeat on home turf in a tight and competitive clash against Leas Sports PSG, with both sides creating chances and momentum swinging throughout the 90 minutes.

The visitors struck first in the 13th minute. A low driven effort to the keeper’s right found its way into the bottom corner, giving Lea Sports PSG an early advantage. Just three minutes later, an error at the back gifted the visitors a golden opportunity and it was one that the away side didn’t miss, pouncing on a loose ball to tap into an open net and double their lead. Rovers responded well. In the 22nd minute, a goal kick was recycled instantly by Louis Tyrer, headed straight back into the danger area. A scramble in the six-yard box followed, but Alex Jode couldn’t quite force the ball over the line under pressure. One minute later, Kimpton’s persistence paid off. Jode slid a through ball into the path of Tyrer, who made no mistake, slotting low to the keeper’s right to bring Rovers back into the contest.

The second half began with another setback for the home side. In the 49th minute, Lea Sports PSG restored their two goal cushion with a well placed header from a right sided corner. Kimpton refused to fade and continued pressure down the left paid dividends when Tom Bundy delivered a dangerous ball into the box. Lewis Rutter reacted quickest, meeting it with a clean volley from six yards to reduce the deficit and reignite the game.

The final stages were back and forth and Rovers pushed relentlessly for an equaliser. Despite the late pressure and sustained attacking intent, the leveller just wouldn’t fall.
