Herts 1961 SFL Division 3 - Kimpton Rovers 4-1 Borehamwood Youth Knights
Kimpton Rovers CFC continued their impressive start to the season with a second home win that sees them sit proudly atop the Division Three table.
For the second week in a row they dominated from early on and took the lead through Dlawar Rekar on seventeen minutes. That lead was doubled a few minutes before the break when Adam Sayer finished from close range following a corner. The hosts were unable to take the clean sheet into the break conceding what could well be one of the goals of the season when Kian Pasdar smashed home just under the crossbar from twenty-five yards out.
The second half saw the introduction of one of two new signings Ollie Lewis introduced alongside fellow debutant James Hook who featured in the starting eleven, both players impressing on their first Kimpton appearances respectively. The visitors from just inside the M25 played their way back into the game after the restart going close on a couple of occasions but being thwarted by some superb defending while on the break just twelve minutes in the Rovers were awarded a penalty following a push on Rekar, that saw Taylor Blake-Harkins shown the red card, harshly so was the general consensus of opinion on the sidelines, but red it was. The resultant spot kick was tucked away by Tom Hills, or ‘Gary Goals’ as he is known by his adoring fans. Despite never giving up the Knights tried desperately to claw back the deficit only to be caught once again on the break with just ten minutes left on the clock when pre-season scoring sensation Marcus Dilley netted from close range to put the game beyond the reach of the visitors. The final mentionable note was the late introduction of sixteen-year-old Max Sayer, son of goalscorer Adam, who has been with the club since it’s inception in 2024, it was great to see the youngster get stuck into the action from the word go and will be one to watch out for in the future.
Midfield workhorse Harry Byron was the Meyer Office Solutions Player of the Match.
